its the jail breaking proces..... imagine u r mobile mini is in the jail it should only be in jail and will not be exposed to the outer world similarly the stock rom is jail in which u should run instock which is original and company ridden

then if u want to change the rom u should root first it means mini is getting out of the jail..... thus u can change the roms.......!
